Transportation
Berlin has so many options at your disposal, you can travel around the city in style, speed, or comfort. Walking is a great way to discover the city, especially if the distances are short. But when you need to go the extra mile, hop on the S-Bahn, the fast train that zips above and below ground and saves you from traffic jams that will get you to your destination in no time If you’re a subway fan, the U-Bahn is just what you need! It’s a yellow train that only travels within the city and is operated by the BVG. It’s perfect for short trips and will take you where you need to go in a jiffy Not a fan of public transport? No problem! Uber is the solution for you. Just download the app, and you’ll have a private driver at your service, or use taxis, but don’t forget that trains are still cheaper than Uber. And of course, there’s always the option of renting a car To access all this you’ll need a valid ticket, which can be purchased at ticket machines, counters, or via the BVG app. Berlin is divided into three fare zones: AB, BC, and ABC, and tickets are valid for different lengths of time. Children under 5 travel for free, while those between 6 and 14 get a discount. And if you plan on staying for a while, grab a 24-hour, 7-day, or monthly ticket for unlimited trips! But beware! Fare evasion incurs a 60 Euro fine.
