Money
You can change money easily from banks or exchange bureaus called DOVIZ. Plus, you’ll find ATMs all over major cities and tourist areas, so you can always withdraw some cash if needed. Tourists can claim VAT return when shopping in Istanbul by spending a minimum purchase amount and meeting specific rules. Tax-free stores are indicated by a blue sign, and the refund can be obtained from customs offices in international airports within 3 months of purchase. The minimum purchase amounts are 118 TRY for a VAT rate of 18% and 108 TRY for a VAT rate of 8%. Permanent residents outside Turkey who haven’t spent more than 6 months in Turkey are eligible for tax-free shopping. The tax refund only applies to goods exported in the traveler’s personal luggage.
